u would be alot better off if u went to a 350 turbo with a manual valve body.the 4oo is good if u run alot of horsepower but it also robs u of horse power to because of the heavy inturnells.the 350 is good up to about 450 horses,if u run more than that u will need to have it worked over a bit.   nick

ya, i planned on using a manual valve body. so do i need to just look for a stock one and buy the valve body, have it installed, and like a 3500 stall torque converter and i could bolt it all in? sorry to ask so much but i am an amateur and everybody has to start somewhere lol

a stock one would work for awhile ,but if u can afford it i would take it to a good tranny shop and see what they think.tell them what u are doing with it and see what they say.i ran a stock one in my old jeep that i raced for 3 years ,i didnt have a problem with it.i was running somewhere around 350 horsepower.   hope this helps .   nick  duality

what do you gain with the manual body vs just manually shifting it with auto valve body?

a manual valve body is better and the tranny shifts better............I just got my tranny back from gettn redone and i should have done it alot sooner........depending on how much horsepower you have you really need the manual valve body so you have crisp and hard shifts.......you don't want the auto valve body because it will shift on its own and you don't want that when you are racing...........

yes bigfordmudder is right .it will keep it from shifting itself,if u turn enough rpm.and the manual valve body puts 100 percent of the fluid pressure to the gear u are in and not a small percent threw all of them all the time.believe me u would know the difference if u ran one without it and then one with it.for a 100.00 to a 150.00 dollars it is worth its weight in gold when it comes to racing.    nick   duality
